Binder Indecision

This post is literally a month late, but oh well! I received two very nice binders for Christmas, and now I’m suffering from Binder Indecision.

My Every Day Carry is my Day-Timer portable Rose Gold planner. It goes everywhere with me.

Other notebooks in use: my Mini Flex and a 3-3 format notebook from my MIL.

Newcomers to the picture: Day-Timer desk size Malibu in Teal/Aqua and my cousin-in-law’s vintage (20 year old) A5 Filofax Finsbury. The Binders I received are A5/Classic/Desk size. So I can use the same size paper in both binders.

Dilemma? Love the color of the Malibu, but the A5 Filo functions better.

  • Personal inserts fit the rings for the A5.
  • A5 and personal insert holes fit the rings of the Mini Flex.
  • A5 holes fit the holes of a standard 3-ring binder.

Now that I have the A5 in my hand, I have a better idea of what I’m dealing with.

12/26/2015-morning: Philip has given me the okay to return the Malibu. I’m looking into an Electric Blue A5 Finsbury on Amazon.

12/26/2015-afternoon: After a trip to Hobby Lobby, I believe the universe wanted me to keep the Malibu. I found packs of 100 sheet, 7 hole punched paper, for $3.99 each. So the Malibu will be used for my Spring class.

1/3/2016: During a trip to Walmart, I found more packs of 7-hole punched paper!!! Why have I know seen this before?

In conclusion, the A5 will be used for my writing notebook and the Malibu will be for class notes.

I am a stationary addict but I’ve never had a binder like this. I usually go for “regular” planners. These are cute tho! might look into that

Oh that’s a whole other can of worms. Fancy planner binders (that can be expensive) vs. 3 ring binders. I’m too scared to go there.

  2. I love that you have neon colors. I usually find 3 ring binders so boring, I’d rather waste them money on an expensive predone one.

  3. Emily says:

I’d be indecisive, too! They are both so cute and the colors compliment each other perfectly as well!

  4. Lucy says:

I love that teal color! It’s so pretty so I can totally understand your dilemma. 🙂

  5. I love love love the blue color. I vote you just take the stuff out of the brown one and out it in the blue one lol

    • caendicott says:

haha! Thanks for the input! I actually was able to buy an A5 ring set up that my husband is going to replace the 7 rings with in the teal one. Best of both worlds.

  6. Kim says:

So many decisions!!! I know how you feel…I love binders and organizational products…often there is just too many to choose from

  7. I have tried to get a way from fancy planner binders because they are so expensive and I don’t use them like I should. I have started making my own planners and having them bound. I love a good planner!

  8. I’m a planner addict too! Good to know I’m not the only one! I tend to stick with cheaper ones because I get bored and switch every couple of months… I used to have something like the A5 but it didn’t work for me. Thanks for sharing!

indigo is a nice colour and the tan is a great neutral. nice to have variety.

  10. That’s great that you came to a solution for both!

  11. Angie Scheie says:

I love the color of the Malibu too! Way to make them both work for you!

  12. Becki S says:

Ooo I didn’t know that Hobby Lobby had planner inserts, will have to check that out the next time I’m there!

    • caendicott says:

They weren’t real inserts, just 8.5 x 5.5 lined paper with 7 holes. I don’t see this paper very often, although it’s been showing up to spite me now.

  13. Chrystie says:

Love the malibu color too! I would have been just as torn as you were 🙂

  14. laci says:

I am a planner freak I am always undecided lol

  15. I’m glad you’re able to make use of both of them! They’re both beautiful!

  16. I could collect office supplies all day long! So hard to pick! 🙂

    • caendicott says:

I used to be really bad, but I’m getting better. I’ve learned to avoid office supply stores to curtail my spending.

  17. They both look super cute, I think blue would be my choice

  18. Dena says:

If you are ever interested in selling the Teal Malibu, I will be glad to take her off your hands!

  19. Carla says:

Were you able to switch out the Malibu’s rings?
